Soccer Coordinator & Varsity Head Coach

 

Coach Johnson is a native of New York State, where he played soccer at Genesee Community College from 1973-1975.  In 1978 he received a bachelors degree in Physical Education from the State University of New York at Brockport.  This year he begins his 29th year of coaching high school soccer and his 20th year at Kingwood High School.

His 487 career victories as a boy's coach rank him 2nd all-time in the State of Texas, and 40th all-time in the nation.  His overall boys coaching record stands at 487-114-63 with an overall record of 580-120-65.  He is the only coach in Texas to take both a boys and a girls team to the state tournament final four.  In 1995 he guided the Lady Mustangs to the State Championship with a record of 29-0.  He has also guided the boys to three State Runner-up titles, 1999, 2001, and 2005.  He is also a two time finalist for National Coach of the Year.

Coach Johnson is a former President of the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches.  He currently is the Southwest Regional Chairman for the National Soccer Coaches Association's National Coach of the Year Committee.  He hold a U.S. Soccer National C coaching Licence and an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as well as a National Youth Licence from U.S. Soccer and a National Youth Diploma from the NSCAA.

In addition to coaching at Kingwood, Coach Johnson also coached the women's club soccer team at Rice University from 1994-1997.

He has a daughter, Jenny 28, a son Mark 25 and a grandson, Liam 19 months.

Assistant Varsity Coach and JV Head Coach

Coach Bunck originally heralds from the Flanders, Belgium where he played for approxoimately 10 years at 2 clubs affiliated with the Koninklijke Belgische Voetbal Bond. He likes to think his "old world" ties gave him the real zeal for the sport of soccer.

Coach Bunck joined the Mustang soccer staff in 2008, after having taught in Sheldon ISD and coaching in the Crosby ISD. He teaches freshmen World Geography and coaches the Boy's Junior Varsity soccer team. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland overseas. He is proud of being a world traveler and having visited places like Romania, the Netherlands, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Coach Albrecht, originally from Nebraska, came to Texas in 1988, after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska. Now in his 21st year of coaching, he is currently in his second year at Kingwood where he coaches football and soccer. Coach Albrecht has coached soccer at Eisenhower, Livingston and now Kingwood.

Coach Albrecht and his family have lived in Kingwood for the past 13 years. His wife Rachel is a fourth grade teacher at Foster Elementary here in Kingwood. He has two sons. Zach is a senior at KHS and Noah is in 3rd Grade at Foster Elementary.
